Why Schedule Tweets?

In order to use Twitter efficiently and effectively, you should schedule tweets. Why?

  • Uploading your tweets automatically every few minutes or so makes it harder for your followers to keep up with your communication. This overloads your readers and it's possible they'd miss a few posts.
  • Many Twitterers, especially businesses, include links in the posts. Obviously they are meant to be followed, but uploading a link very hour is considering spamming and doesn't bode well for your account. Readers can spot spamming quickly and you may lose readers. Give your link time to attract visitors in order to effectively use Twitter.
  • Scheduling tweets gives readers a chance to enjoy timely posts. You want followers to read your posts and even come back for more. The best way to do that is to know when you posts your updates and have regularly scheduled tweets.

How to Schedule Tweets Manually

Use a Microsoft Word calendar templates or open up any calendar program and print out a weekly or monthly calendar. If your tweets have no set topic, just write in your calendar "Send Twitter update" or something similar. For those Twitter users that have a specific topic to tweet or for businesses that promote their products, then you'll want to add a topic so you can be reminded what you need to write.
