Elmer - one thing that seems to work often when an IM account locks up for just one account is to clean up all of the "temp" Internet files on your computer. These often include files you don't even know about. A good application to use is CCleaner. Download and run it, and let it delete all of the files it finds. Try it out and let me know if it resolved your issue!

Ive been an IM user since the site begun. Recently I changed my email and now I am unable to use IM. Can someone help? I can log in but then when it opens, it just freezes on me. I know its not my pc because I can log in under different accounts from my kids, friends. If anyone knows what I can do, please tell me. This is my main way of communication and Ive done everything from uninstalling to asking all my friends.......... thanks. I am using vista basic

Hi Brandon - Rumor has it there are some bugs with the newest version of MySpace IM regarding that specific behavior. Try downloading and installing the older version and that should fix your problem. Good luck!

my problem is wiht the myspace chat rooms i used ot have it where it showed who was in the room there name and so on now there is nothing what happenw as i had to reformat my pc and now it's stuck this way and idk what to do said maby get java i did that nothing...? any ideahs

Hi Daniel, thanks for your comment and question. It's difficult to determine what the problem could be without more details. When you go under File menu, and "Change Skin", under "Skins and Themes" what skin selection is displayed? Carefully examine all of the settings in that section to be sure the application is configured as you expect.

my myspace i.m. pops up with the message "no available skin is compatible with your version of my space i.m. upgrade myspace i.m.? i have done that several times and whenever i go to get back on , the same message comes up again. i have tried the hotfix . it lasted one day and that is all. what is wrong?

Hi - thanks for your question. The only way to stop any application like that from launching during PC startup is to go into options or properties (right click on the icon to find it) and turn off the setting to start the application upon computer startup.

I had already installed the myspace IM on my computer.I tried using it.But I wasn't able to.So I Uninstalled it then I reinstalled it like 3 or 4 times.I have no idea what the problem is with it.

Hi Josh, thanks for your question. Probably the safest and quickest solution would be to uninstall the Myspace IM nad then reinstall it from scratch. The upgrade may not have installed properly, but reinstalling from scratch will fix your MySpaceIM.

i recently upgraded my myspace im but it wont allow the program to open, i keep getting a message saying "no compatable skins are available for your version of myspace im" is there any way i can revert back to the old one or somehow fix this bug?

Jessica - thanks for your question. There are often two firewalls to deal with on any PC. If you've installed virus software on your computer, it will have its own firewall. However, windows itself has its own firewall settings. Check out the info from Microsoft on how to disable it. Also, it's best to leave your antivirus firewall enabled, just configure it to allow your IM software to run. Good luck!

Hi Sherri - try uninstalling and re-installing the IM software. Also, even though you checked your firewall and spyware, just double check that the firewall is allowing your IM software, specifically, to pass through to the Internet. Good luck!

I keep getting an error #8 when signing on to myspace im. I had a system crash and had to reload all of my software...im hasn't worked since. I've checked my firewalls and spyware.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but I don't think it's likely a connection error should force you to have to restore your system? Are you sure your computer isn't infected with a trojan or virus? You might consider running a full system scan with your updated virus software.

Launch McAfee Security Center, e.g. double click the M icon in the system tray, or look under Start -> (All) Programs. Click Internet and Network. Click Configure. Click the Advanced button. Find Program Permissions in the left pane. Locate MySpace Instant Messenger and click on it. In the bottom pane click Grant Full Access. Click the OK button

babydobug - thanks for your question. This issue is a little more difficult to troubleshoot without knowing more, however the fact that you are receiving a Firewall error means that your firewall (either MS Windows, Norton, or McAffee) is not allowing the MySpace IM program to connect to the Internet. Make sure to closely examine your firewall and which programs it is currently configured to block internet access for. It's very likely you need to open up a "hole" in your firewall for MyspaceIM. Good luck!

Sonali, thanks for your question. The default MySpace IM setup is configured to start when you turn on your computer. It's simple enough to turn that off though. Select File -> Preferences. Click General Options and uncheck "Start MySpaceIM when my computer starts." Click OK and MyspaceIM will no longer auto-start whenever you turn on your computer!

i am running windows vista home edition,ie 7. i get the error to check internet connect (#8)or firewall error. i have installed and reinstalled. if i do get it to install, then i cant log into myspace IM. ive have tried for 2 days to get it to work. please help!

Virginia - If you haven't already tried restarting your computer, do that before you try anything else. If that doesn't do the trick think about whether or not you have downloaded any other IM systems or web-based applications recently. It's possible that something that has been added to your computer recently is causing a conflict with your MySpace IM. If so, you may need to try removing the program that is causing the conflict. If you haven't defragmented your hard drive in a while, that may be worth trying as well. If all else files, request assistance via the help link on the MySpace website. Good luck getting the problem fixed.

I am having a problem when I log onto myspace IM. It pops up a message that says that myspace had to suddenly quit unexpectedly. Please click OK to try again. This is a new problem and I don't know how to correct it. I am able to log onto myspace.com, just not my IM. I already tryed to uninstall and re install.. Still didn't work. Any help you can offer is appreciated.
