Looks like my earlier comment didn't "take". This post is a great overview of Twitter. However, I haven't found the Twitter "help" files to be particularly helpful. If anyone else feels the same way, I wrote a short series of posts that provide a step-by-step guide to getting started with Twitter, including explaining the different options and features available. Hi Julie, you're right - although many people don't actually visit the site itself to post or read. Most of them configure updates to go to their cellphone or special browser plugins, and people can post updates from their cellphones as well.

Thanks for this! I've been hearing buzz about Twitter for almost a year now. Ut oh, by the time I sign up for it it will be yesterday's social networking tool. I wonder what will be next?
